Our Leadership

Bill Kiatipis

CEO & Co-Founder

Bill Kiatipis is CEO and co-founder of Qvelo. He began his tech career in 1984, building expertise in relationship sales before transitioning into entrepreneurship. A dynamic leader and technology enthusiast, Bill is known for his innovative problem-solving in the digital realm. With over 40 years of experience in IT, he has launched multiple successful initiatives, each focused on integrating cutting-edge technologies to enhance user experience and improve operational efficiency.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Bill’s greatest passion, apart from his family, lies in bringing people together and helping them reach their full potential. He thrives on challenges, particularly those that drive growth and expand a company’s reach. His customer-first approach has earned him an impeccable reputation and made him a key contributor to some of Canada’s largest High-Performance Computing (HPC) success stories.
Bill has held senior management roles at prominent organizations such as GE Capital, 3Com, CGI, Gartner Group, Fusion IO, and most recently, Dell’s HPC/AI division, where he served as the practice lead.

He holds a degree in Marketing Management with a minor in Business Statistics from Ryerson University in Toronto, where he developed his passion for using technology to drive positive change.

Mark Volk

Chief Revenue Officer

Mark Volk is the Chief Revenue Officer at Qvelo, leveraging three decades of extensive experience to drive growth in the technology sector. Before Qvelo, he was General Manager at Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) for the HPC/AI Americas Commercial and Canadian Federal business, where he successfully scaled revenues by over 400%, exceeding $2 billion in annual sales.

Previously, at IBM, Mark launched a worldwide HPC SaaS Cloud offering on Softlayer and managed the global $1B+ storage software business. His background also includes senior roles at several startups and pre-IPO companies, such as Platform Computing (acquired by IBM), Entrust, N-Able, and Corel, where his strategic vision fueled growth and market impact.

Mark earned his MBA from the Telfer School of Management at Ottawa University, where he cultivated his passion for leading innovative, high-growth business initiatives.

Roger Singh

Scalar Decisions

Roger is Qvelo’s Technology Evangelist.

Roger was a co-founder of Scalar Decisions and a key advocate for the company’s “architect-led” vision. Under his leadership, Scalar’s technical team grew to over 200 employees, solidifying the company’s reputation as an industry expert. His passion for exploring emerging technologies and designing complex environments shaped Scalar’s engineering culture. Scalar was later acquired by CDW.

As the CTO of Rubikloud, Roger led the engineering team in developing a machine learning platform specifically for the retail sector. He remains highly active and well-respected within the IT community, drawing on over 20 years of experience in systems architecture, business analysis, operations, and software development. Roger also advises customers, partners, and start-ups, and consults on various councils focused on technology exchanges, product development, security, and cloud computing.

Roy Chartier

CTO & Co-Founder

Roy Chartier is the Chief Technology Officer and co-founder of Qvelo, where he brings over three decades of experience in architecting and delivering high-impact technology solutions. Before co-founding Qvelo, Roy served as the Director of Architecture at the Digital Research Alliance of Canada, where he oversaw the development of national-scale e-infrastructure projects. He is also the founder of Computing for Humanity (formerly known as The Supercomputer for Cancer Research), an initiative aimed at harnessing technology to solve critical global challenges.

Throughout his career, Roy has held progressively senior roles across government, industry, and non-profit sectors, working on high-value initiatives ranging from modest projects to international-scale e-infrastructure. His contributions span organizations such as Labs Canada, Shared Services Canada, Elections Canada, the Department of National Defence, the Canada Revenue Agency, Canada Payments Association, Newbridge Networks, and Nortel.

In addition to his executive roles, Roy serves as an External Advisory Board Member for the ACCESS Coordination Office (ACO) and as a Steering Committee Member of Hyperion’s HPC User Forum, where he helps guide the future of high-performance computing.

Roy holds a degree in Philosophy from Carleton University and has completed executive programs at MIT’s Computer Science & Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL) and the Sloan School of Management, further deepening his expertise in technology leadership.

Guy Robitaille

Chief Security Officer

Guy serves as the Chief Security Officer at Qvelo, bringing over 40 years of expertise in security and IT. His career began with the Army Signals in the Canadian Military Reserves, where he retired as a Warrant Officer (WO), followed by a distinguished tenure at the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS), most recently holding the position of Chief of IT Security. Guy believes that effective security is a shared responsibility, integrating cyber/IT, physical, and personnel security for a holistic approach.

Throughout his career, Guy has overseen and contributed to a wide range of high-impact projects, including:

  • The design and installation of wide area and local area networks.
  • Managing large data centers and server farms.
  • Designing and constructing protected distribution systems.
  • Selection, design, and deployment of cryptographic systems.
  • Establishing comprehensive IT security policies.
  • Leading application/system risk assessments and security incident responses.

Guy has also worked closely with domestic and international partners to protect shared information and provide strategic security advice based on industry best practices.

Never one to shy away from a challenge, Guy has plenty of stories to tell—whether it’s being called back to work from a canoe trip deep in the Canadian wilderness or spending eight months supporting Canadian operations in Afghanistan. His experience reflects his commitment to overcoming obstacles and ensuring security excellence in even the most demanding environments.

Guy completed 2 years of Engineering at Carleton University, and received a diploma in Electronics Engineering – Research & Development from Algonquin College.
