HPC Deployment Project Manager

As an HPC Deployment Project Manager at Qvelo, you will be responsible for overseeing the successful delivery of high-performance computing (HPC) projects from initial planning to final deployment. You will work closely with clients, technical teams, and stakeholders to ensure that complex HPC solutions are delivered on time, within budget, and aligned with client requirements. Your leadership will be instrumental in coordinating efforts across multiple teams, managing project timelines, mitigating risks, and ensuring that all aspects of the HPC deployment process are executed smoothly.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the end-to-end project management of HPC deployments, including planning, execution, monitoring, and closure.
• Coordinate cross-functional teams, including system architects, engineers, and technical consultants, to ensure successful delivery of HPC solutions.
• Develop and maintain detailed project plans, outlining key milestones, resource allocation, and timelines to meet client requirements.
• Manage client relationships, acting as the primary point of contact for project-related communications, updates, and feedback.
• Ensure that project deliverables meet the highest standards of quality, performance, and reliability in line with client expectations and industry best practices.
• Monitor project progress, ensuring that risks, issues, and challenges are identified early and addressed proactively.
• Manage project budgets, ensuring cost control and resource allocation are optimized to meet financial objectives.
• Oversee the integration of HPC hardware, software, and networking components, ensuring seamless deployment and functionality.
• Ensure that all technical documentation related to the deployment is created, maintained, and delivered as part of the project completion process.
• Conduct regular status meetings with internal teams and clients, providing progress updates, resolving issues, and adjusting project plans as necessary.
• Facilitate post-deployment evaluations, ensuring that HPC systems are optimized for performance, reliability, and scalability.
• Collaborate with technical teams to ensure that HPC solutions comply with security, data privacy, and regulatory requirements.
• Lead efforts to continuously improve the project management process for future HPC deployments, ensuring best practices are followed.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years of experience managing complex technical projects, with a strong emphasis on HPC deployment or related large-scale IT infrastructure projects.
• Proven experience in end-to-end project management, including project planning, scheduling, risk management, and budget control.
• Familiarity with HPC architectures, cluster configurations, and deployment processes for compute, storage, and networking systems.
• Strong organizational and leadership skills, with the ability to manage cross-functional teams and coordinate across multiple workstreams.
• Exceptional communication skills, with experience in managing client relationships and providing regular project updates to stakeholders.
• Proficiency in project management tools such as MS Project, Jira, Asana, or similar platforms.
• Strong understanding of HPC technologies including parallel computing, workload management (e.g., SLURM, PBS), and performance optimization.
• Knowledge of budget management and cost control for large-scale technical projects.
• Ability to problem-solve under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent project management certification.
• Experience with cloud-based HPC deployments or hybrid HPC environments.
• Knowledge of AI/ML workflows, big data processing, or other advanced computational use cases in HPC.
• Familiarity with DevOps practices and experience managing deployments in high-performance environments.
• Experience working with clients in industries such as finance, healthcare, government, or scientific research, where HPC is heavily utilized.
